Advertisemtents Mood Board

In my opinion, this mood board is what a typical young teenaged girl wants her life to be like. It takes into account most of their material wants, as well as some food that they may enjoy as well. I think make-up would make a good advertisement for my magazine, so I put in on the mood board first, as many young teenaged girls nowadays have started to wear make-up, in order to make themselves look/act older. They may have had this influence by an older role model, such as a big sister. Next I looked at the types of clothes they either wear or aspire to wear. Most young teenaged girls wear Hollister clothes, with some of them being able to afford the more expensive Jack Wills. However, the teenaged girls who come from a working class background may not be able to afford these luxuries, and so may wear clothes such as the ‘JLS’ hoodie, or the One direction t-shirt. I chose pink converse as a typical shoe to be advertised in the magazine as almost all girls like pink, as well as converse, so this shoe would be ideal. I think that tickets for a popular artist would be a good advertisement to include in my magazine, so I chose Justin Bieber, a young male artist who appeals to most of the mainstream audience. An advertisement for horse-riding lessons may appeal to less readers than a ‘JLS’ hoodie for example, but it would appeal greatly to the upper or middle classes, as most young teenaged girls would live to ride a horse. Finally I included advertisements for electronic goods on my mood board. I chose the iPhone for the phone advertisement, as it is probably the most wide-selling phone across the world, so would appeal to a larger audience. I also included a iPod adaptable speaker, which also appeals to a large target audience, as most young teenaged girls will have either an iPhone or iPod nowadays.

Colours Mood Board

All of the colours present in these pictures could be classed as ‘girly’ colours. Most of the pictures contain pinks and purples, colours typically associated with girls. As my magazine is mainly aimed at young teenaged girls, I will probably be using a mix of pink, purple, white and black when I create my magazine. This will give the magazine a more ‘girly’ feel, with the white and black still making it look professional and not as tacky as if the magazine were just pink and purple.

Font Mood Board

The first three fonts that I chose are very heavily aimed towards girls. You can see this clearly by the colours of the first three fonts. All of them are stereotypically ‘girls’ colours, the first one being a reddy pink, the second one being a vibrant pin, and the third one again being a mix of red and pink. Viewers can also automatically read these fonts as girl’s fonts because of the style of them. The first three fonts have either flicks on the end of the letters, making them look more feminine, or as the first one does, have hearts placed within the letters. The 4th font however is different, and could be seen as font appropriate for both genders. This is because it is black, and doesn’t have any flicks on the end of letters. It could be argued that the font is still aimed at the younger audience, as the letters are canted and off-centre, which gives it a more childish look. In my opinion, this is the most appropriate font due to the fact that it looks more professional, however childish enough to suit a young teenager’s magazine.

Target Audience Mood Board

As I hope to base my music magazine around a boy band, the main target audience will be young teenage girls, with the ages ranging from 11-16. Because of this, I have to take into account what kind of things they like. I started off with what kind of music they would like, and came to the conclusion of artist such as One Direction, Justin Bieber and Rita Ora. Next I thought about the kind of food they would like, and established that it would probably be fast food such as McDonalds and Pizza Hut etc., due to the fact that they would probably have a high metabolism and so wouldn’t think about what the food is doing to their bodies. Most young girls are probably animal lovers who will ‘aw’ at pictures and so will have a ‘cute’ pet. This is why when it comes to taking my pictures; I hope to use my dog in them with the boy band, as it will appeal to a wider target audience.  Next I thought about what kinds of films young teenage girls watch and enjoy. By the age of 11, they may have grown out of typical children’s Disney films and prefer chick flicks, or romantic comedies. This is why I included ‘Dirty Dancing’ and ‘Mean Girls’. Finally I thought about the kind of TV programmes they would watch. They may watch some programmes aimed at older girls in order to fit in or look ‘cooler’, which I why I chose to put ‘Keeping up with the Kardashians’ and ‘The Hills’ in my mood board.
